Basil's use in cooking is well known but it also makes an wonderful addition to your botanical incense recipes.
Sample Incense Recipes
1. Love Incense
Mix together:
- 2 parts sandalwood
- 1/2 part basil
- 1/2 part bergamot
- several drops rose oil
Grind together all dry ingredients in a mortal & pestle.
Add the liquid ingredients (oils) and mix well.
Burn small quantities over charcoal.
2. Peace and Protection Incense
Mix together:
- 4 parts Lavender 4,
- 3 parts each Thyme & Basil
- 2 parts Vervain
- 1part Frankincense
- 1 pinch each Rue & Gum Benzoin
- few drops each Bergamot Oil & Jasmine Oil
- several drops lavendar oil
Grind together all dry ingredients in a mortal & pestle.
Add the liquid ingredients (oils) and mix well.
Burn small quantities over charcoal.
