Traditionally, the abalone shell is used for ceremonial purposes to catch the ash from a smudge bundle when burning. It may also be used to extinguish a smudge bundle after burning. Many people like to use these shells as a natural container to burn sage and other botanicals. We advise extreme caution when doing this and rather suggest using a heat safe bowl when charcoal is involved. You can also use them to cut your own abalone conch discs if you're adventurous. Sizes vary but average about 6 to 7 inches in length.

Great way to burn sage. It stays cool to the touch for the most part. I would recommend it to anyone. Get the tripod also.

Gorgeous

It is much larger than I thought and absolutely gorgeous. I purchased it to burn smudge-sticks, however, I leave it empty - too pretty to burn something in it. Thank you for the nice samples and fast shipping.

So beautiful!

These shells are so beautiful, I bought several for my small business and brought some to work, I sold 3 in one day, they also have metaphysical properties,and are pretty enough to hold some crystals or just leave empty
